Last night, 'A' and I had our healthy homecooked dinner date at my apartment.
I picked him up from the gym. (I don't know if I ever mentioned it, but he admitted last month that whenever he knows he's going to be near me, he sprays on some of his cologne because he knows I love the scent and he wants to be on my mind. IT WORKS.) Anyhoo, he gets in my car and smells just yumm. Haha.
He was tired, but I asked if he was still up for dinner. He was, so we got there and I got the oven going. He asked if he could help at all and because I said no, he just watched me be all domestic for him, LoL. I prepared some foil wrapped broccoli, carrots and potatoes while I made him pick a movie to watch. The winner? The Departed with Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio.
When the veggies were almost done (I bake them in foil for 50 minutes at 450 degrees - perfection!), I prepped some country style biscuits to go in the oven. 'A' took that as his cue to start cooking the steaks. We enjoyed our meals with 1% milk.
My entire meal ended up being 600 calories, 81 carbs, 11g of fat and 45g of protein.
It was completely filling and he was a satisfied customer. I think we'll be doing this homecooked date night on a regular basis. And I couldn't be more thrilled :) Plus, it's cheaper than going out!
Just wanted to share that you can make healthy meals for the 'manly men' in your life. I don't even know if he realizes how good that stuff was for him. He got his meat and potatoes meal. I had a happy belly without having to buy special expensive 'diet' foods.
I'm a normal girl who wants to be healthy. On a budget. And this works for me.
