Health scares

Friday, January 11, 2013

It's Jan 2013... my husband has recovered from his prostate surgery and eye surgery and is doing well.

Dec 5th I went in for a routine day surgery to have my gall bladder and stones removed. Complications landed me back in the Emerg five days later with peritonitis. A small stone managed to break loose and lodged itself in the bile duct causing the bile to back up and fill my belly. Never knew such pain existed; was on so much morphine I don't even remember the next day. Emergency surgery to wash out the belly and place two drains. Surgeon noticed my intestine was partially blocked in the scar tissue from my hysterectomy in 2004 and said while he normally would have left it, he figured it was going to cause problems later and fixed it. Thank goodness. ERCP procedure two days later to place a stent, it blew out the stone and after a week in hospital, I was finally able to come home. Four days later still in pain, so back to Emerg, xrays, ultrasound and bloodwork done but everything healing well. Antibiotics to avoid an infection in the stent (I was having night sweats) and I went home. Finally feeling well enough to go back to work but wow the last five weeks have been crazy. My poor husband thought he was going to lose me... for awhile I didn't think I was going to make it either. Thank God I'm doing better.... knock wood it continues to get better.

now back to exercising.

Wow, Ush! I sympathise with all the health issues yo have been facing . You sure have had it very full on. I am sorry you've had so much pain and complications and no doubt it was a frightening experience. So glad to hear you are doing better - I hope you continue to recover and feel stronger all the time. Take care and ease back into the exercise slowly and be gentle with yourself. I am thinking of you!

    Hugs and blessings, Nattacia
