BOSU beating!

Friday, January 11, 2013

DH gave me my own BOSU as a gift at Christmas and yesterday was its maiden voyage. What an eye-opener! I had used one a little bit in physical therapy when I was working on my ITB issues, but this workout was totally different.

It never ceases to surprise me, no matter how fit I may view myself, when I try something new, I feel like a complete klutz! Ran a half-marathon? - good for you ! Now bounce on top of this crazy contraption...yeah, right. Made it through weekly RIPPED classes? - way to go! Now try to make it through a Zumba class without damaging any body parts. It clearly emphasizes the need for cross-training in my life!

So this morning, I'm feeling it in my glutes and calves and ankles. Hopefully, with practice, it will get easier and then I can try some of the harder balancing moves. Meanwhile, I'm trying to come up with a name for my BOSU, but the only ones I can think of that start with a 'B' aren't suitable for blogging emoticon

Have a great weekend, everybody!

Yes, HANSBRINK, there was a 4-section DVD with the Bosu, I was so glad not to have to go looking for something to use! Interestingly, Chalene Johnson was in a couple of the sections. I know her from TurboKick and she rocks a Bosu, too, of course. There was a cardio section, an ab section, a total body section and a "Long and Lean" section that looked like it was a yoga-type workout. It'll be enough to keep me challenged for a while for sure!

Did you get any of the BOSU videos too? I would be interested if you did and your opinion of them.

It's things like this that remind me how many different muscles we actually have in our body - and how many exercises it takes to touch them all! Keep at it - it will get easier!!! emoticon

No matter what you do, new things will never been 100% easy. You're using new muscles and different types of coordination! Bosu balls are "fun" and can make exercise very challenging. Be sure someone is there to check your form so you don't hurt yourself!
