Well, I thought I had blasted through my plateau yesterday when I saw "new territory" on the scale after playing around with the same couple of pounds for two weeks...and when I got on today I was down another 2.4! I am in shock, and I will fully accept it if it goes up tomorrow because this morning could just be a fluke, dehydration etc, but I think I figured out what broke it.
I recently read Jillian Michaels' Master Your Metabolism, and she gave solid science for not eating past 9PM (if your bedtime is around 11pm). DH and I were big evening eaters, I would save at least 300 calories for an evening snack (which is kind of like an extra meal!). I justify that by saying that standard diet recommendations are three meals plus snack, and my breakfast is usually more like a snack (I have more willpower in the morning).
I have moved my evening snack earlier (8pmish) and it seems to have worked. Only time will tell if this is a real change but I am feeling really positive! In fact, I am feeling positive about this whole diet experience! I am still going strong and tomorrow is my two month recommitment anniversary. It is not always easy but I am still here, I'm still tracking all my food, I'm still exercising, and I have made it through some things that would have sent me running to food before. I think I may actually be able to stick to this for the long haul, my lifestyle is improving in permanent ways :-) YAY!
