Jump Start

Friday, January 11, 2013

I made it through the first week of my January Jump Start challenge. Adding the extra days of cardio is probably the best thing for me. I know my doctor will be pleased, because he always tells me 3 times a week is not enough. 5 will make him smile, especially if I can weigh in lower than the last time. I have a month or so till I see him, so hopefully I will have a good number! At least he didn't see what I did during December... he would not be pleased!

Today I worked out at the gym- 32 minutes on Elliptical - working up to 35 - and the strength training. I added a couple of moves from the infamous "thighs" video. I am having some issues with upper body work because of the tennis elbow, and need to find some exercises that don't hurt it. I do a couple, and I did push-ups the other day and they didn't hurt! SHOULD have done them today... just 5 more minutes will push me over 500 fitness minutes for the month. And that IS something to be proud of, especially since we're not quite through half the month.

How is YOUR January going? Are you giving your fitness a jump start? You don't have to join a challenge to do it, but it helps with motivation, for sure!

The Elliptical has really helped strengthen my knees.

Yeah Patti! I think the JumpStart was definitely what I needed for January! Especially since I was still working on making December's goal. :) I finally reached that today! Now I have to really kick it into gear, in order to meet January's goal!

Have you tried using the stretchy bands for your arm workouts instead of the weights? The trainer I work with at the gym, has another woman with a tennis injury using the bands for now, and no dumbbells.
I love your motivation! way to go!

I gave up on the Jump Start challenge as so many of the videos made my knees ache. I love reading about all that you are doing. It is motivating me to get off this computer and so some of my own moves! I am going to work on my core with my ball.
