This day is going to slowly

Friday, January 11, 2013

Tonight we are having a Memoial service for my friend that killed himself last week. I get to start it with the letter from the family and end it with what I want to say. Just a sad day for someone to take their life at 39 years old. But we need to remember we are not promised tomorrow. So tell the ones you care about how you feel. You might not get another chance. This is the peom I am reading tonight.

Since the Loss of You

Since the loss of you
I've learned to live for each day
And take it as a blessing

Since the loss of you
I've learned that when everything goes wrong
To never give up on what is right
Because it can only make you strong.

Since the loss of you
I've learned that even when you're in a log of pain
You've got to hold yourself together
So you won't feel like you're going insane

Since the loss of you
I've learned how to hold the tears when I want to cry
Because all I have is memories
And just want to ask God why

But mostly, since the loss of you
I've learned a life can be taken in the blink of an eye
And only Heaven really knows when
That person will have to say "Goodbye"

My heart goes out to you. I have known some who have taken their own lives, usually unexpectedly (isn't it always?) and always too young. The youngest of these was 15. tt's always difficult to deal with and understand. The question is always "WHY?"
I hope your evening goes as smoothly as possible. Hugs
