Taking Back Control

Friday, January 11, 2013

A couple of days ago, I wrote a blog on self-sabotage.
I realized that I have been treating my healthy life/weight loss goals as an all or nothing exercise.
I work really hard to put my eating in control, which in itself is not bad. But the moment my life is in flux or there is a situation where i cannot control 100% of my diet, I let everything go.

I need to take back control, slowly but surely. Changing one thing at a time, rather than expecting perfection all the time.

This week, I had three streaks: 5 minutes daily affirmation, 2 cups of water, 10 min of exercise every day. I successfully completed that and I'm feeling pretty good. I will continue the daily affirmations and a minimum of 10 min of exercise every day for the next week. I will increase the water intake to 3 cups.

It's not a complete overhaul, but it's a step in the right direction for someone who lives in extremes as I have been doing.

You hit the nail on the head! Its more of a journey than an destination, so that "all or nothing" mentality is just out of place. You are doing a great thing for yourself by making slow permanent changes. Once we are able to accept ourselves as we are, it becomes second nature to do what's best for ourselves.
