Those of you who read my blogs regularly know that I hate running in the cold. And really, that is an understatement. It's a really deep-seated hatred of cold weather running that I have. Yesterday, we were supposed to have our monthly wing run outside. So I was fully prepared (sort of) with my long sleeve PT uniform shirt, black compression pants, my PT uniform shorts, and my PT uniform jacket. None of this is really moisture-wicking. I cant find my ear warmers or my gloves. But I was ready and prepared and psyched up, because I needed to run yesterday anyway. And then 30 minutes before we were supposed to be outside, we got an email that it was cancelled. No real explanation, but my guess was because it was cold. Weather.com said it was 41 degrees but felt like 37. Fun times. So, I still needed to get in a run anyway. I left work a little after 4, headed to the gym to change into my PT uniform since it was all I had, and then said "screw it, I'm running outside." Honestly, it wasnt so cold that I was going to form icicles on my face or anything, and this is pretty much what the weather will be like from now at least for the next 2ish months. So I sucked it up, and got out there. And really, it was very relaxing. It was cold, but I wasnt uncomfortable. I started out too quick and my garmin said I had a 10 min mile pace going for a while, so I forced myself to slow down or else I'd burn out on the hills. We have 3 rolling hills back to back and they gradually get bigger along the course I took. I finished 2.25 miles in 25 minutes with an average pace of 11:18 min/mile. Not bad at all, especially considering I've been doing my treadmill runs at a 12 min/mile pace. I didnt feel overly tired afterwards and had the sun not got down during my run, I probably could have continued on... Anyway, I am glad I got my run in, but I am even more proud of myself for getting it down outside. :) Saturday I plan to run 3 miles, but the weather is going to be in the teens with snow on and off all day, so I will be sticking to a treadmill for that.
I had some leftovers for dinner, read just under 100 pages of my book and got to sleep at a decent time. Buffy was not wanting to sleep so she had to go in her crate instead of sleeping on my bed, otherwise we would have been up for quite a few hours more than I had planned. I've been sleeping really well the past few days, and when my alarm went off, I wasnt super ready to get out of bed, but I did, changed into my workout clothes, and got in a morning workout. That makes two morning workouts before work this week. What is happening to me?! I did the 10 Minute Solutions Ultimate Body Workout. I chose the Upper Body Segment and the Lower Body Segment for a total of 20 minutes. The lower body is a killer with all of the squats and lunges! Planning to do some elliptical after work to loosen up my legs a bit.
Well, off to get my work done. The issue I was working on yesterday ended up not being as bad as I thought it was, but still requires research, and then at around 4pm yesterday I got an email with a 65 page document to review by the end of the day today. Fun times. It looks painfully boring. At least it is Friday! We are supposed to go to an 80s themed party tomorrow night. J was in such a horrible mood last night though so who knows what will happen.
