Looking ahead to the weekend

This will be a challenging weekend for me to stay on track with nutrition and exercise, but that's because it is sure to be a fun-filled weekend, so I guess it's okay. This is real life. I can't put my real life on hold while I lose weight. I just have to incorporate as much healthy as I can into my life.

One of my college roommates is coming to visit this weekend. Actually she's on her way here as we speak. I already texted her asking if she'll come to the gym with me tonight. Hopefully she says yes, because I need to keep my butt on track if I'm going to complete the January Jumpstart challenge. I will probably reward her (and myself) by going out for drinks tonight. Tomorrow, we're thinking of going to the aquarium and doing the Sam Adams brewery tour and probably going dancing in the evening. Not a lot of food planned into these excursions, but I know there will be plenty of liquid calories. I'm going to try to stay on track as best as I can, but if I'm not perfect, that's okay. This is my real life and I'll just make better choices the next time. As long as my healthy outweighs the unhealthy, I think I'll be all right.

    The way I found Spark People was through a friend in another city. I went to see her and she did in fact drag my butt to the gym with her. She explained why she didn't want to skip her workouts and started telling me about Spark People...
Eventually I joined her (2008)

Can I come with you to Samuel Adams. I am a home brewer and I would love to go on a couple of big brewery tours sometime.

    I love the Sam Adams tour! Afterwards, you can go to a local pub where you get free glasses with the purchase of a beer (or something like that, I don't remember the details). We got the glasses almost two years ago and still use them...they're fancy (laser cut circle on the bottom to promote carbonation, good shape to promote beer at the right temperature, etc.). The only thing to beware of is that it's a good ol fashioned Irish pub with pub food...so it can be an interesting challenge if you are trying to be strict on your nutritional goals.

Whatever happens, I hope you can get to the gym. There's something just so satisfying about going to the gym with a friend...you get to hang out, share part of your everyday life and not feel like you had to compromise your healthy lifestyle to do it! And dancing is an EXCELLENT way to get in your "10 minutes a day" of everyday exercise. :)

    You have such a great attitude, and you're absolutely right, now is the time to learn the give-and-take of everyday choices and how to balance your weight loss and healthy living goals with having fun and getting out every now and then!!
