Tonight, Grandpa is coming to pick up the kids for an overnight so Nanny can take them to a cool Lego meeting tomorrow in Virginia! That means hubs and I have a date night opportunity! Since we have a couple of Outback Steakhouse gift certificates, we decided to go there for dinner. I always order the same thing and enjoy it. We don't go but maybe once a year, so it's a nice treat.
Since this week's jumpstart challenge includes tracking your food for a couple days each week, I've gotten much better about using the nutrition tracker and I actually enjoy plugging in all of my food. I log it all in for the day during the morning quiet hours which is nice because it also takes the guess work out of what's for dinner or lunch or snacks because I've already mapped out the day. So I went online this morning and made a grouping of my "Outback Steakhouse Dinner" with the items we typically order. HOLY #&*%)$#!!! The Bloomin Onion alone is more calories than I should be having in my ENTIRE DAY!! That's insane. And then we add the steak and the wedge salad (I know they're horrible nutritionally, but so yummy) and then the garlic mashed potatoes and then the margarita, etc., etc., etc. For dinner tonight, the total number of calories is MORE THAN TWICE what I should have in an entire day. That means I could eat dinner tonight, but then eat nothing else today (we know that's a bad plan) and also nothing tomorrow. Who would have thought?! And I would go there and I would eat all of that and not bat an eye. Sure, I'd be full when I left and I'd know maybe it wasn't quite the healthiest meal I'd eaten, but I'd never have guessed that it worked out to be that many calories. And don't even get me started on Fat Grams! I'd have to live like a bunny rabbit for a week to balance those out!
