1 year Anniversary~~

Friday, January 11, 2013

Any day I will see the 1 year anniversary on my SparkPage. I can hardly wait! I've been sparking for a year, and what a difference a year has made!

I was in a difficult predicament. On January 3, 2012, I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, and needed to make major life changes.
It was just five months ago that I was told that I had Type 2 Diabetes. It was time to take my health seriously. I needed to start monitoring my food intake, lose the extra 20 pounds, and make some lifestyle changes. Here is a photo of me after I made the changes. It may not look huge to you, but I feel great! My energy level is up, blood pressure is down, and my prebreakfast glucose numbers are down around 110.

Since last January, I have been focusing on my health through Spark People. Now I'm hooked! Tracking my food, exercise and learning new things about my health has made a significant change in my life. I'm not going to stop now!
I've been sparked!
Henry David Thoreau once said; "If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with success unexpected in common hours." This has proven true for me.

Awesome job! The support and tools here really are so amazing! Although I'm still not at goal, I've lost and kept off more over the past 3 years than at any other time in my life. I couldn't have done it without SP!

AWESOMENESS!!!!! I was diagnosed on 22 January 2010, at 9 am, but whose counting! emoticon I think the initial reaction is "Oh no . . . not me! This is terrible". But sounds like you've done exactly what I did , , , took this information as a wake up call and did serious lifestyle alterations to get healthy! so, unlike my initial reaction of "Oh no"! my reaction now is "Thank goodness!" Without that wake up call, I seriously doubt I would have changed my life either!

I am proud of you!!

Many people think type 2 is only for the obese, and never effects the healthy and active.
I am so glad that you have done so well and make such a great sp team member. With such positive-ness with all you share and do here.
Thank you for being a positive light here!
