This Feels Great.

Friday, January 11, 2013

I work in a very big institution where I don't necessarily know everyone well, except for those in my department and those that I interact with frequently. Yesterday as I was heading to my car, two ladies come up to me to ask me what I have done to lose the weight. These are ladies that I have seen around campus but I don't even know their names. They were especially interested in knowing how I have managed to get my tummy so flat - I didn't even know it can be considered 'flat' already.

Of course I was happy to share with them as much information as I could in the short time ( I really enjoy sharing health & fitness information, once you get me started, it's almost impossible to get me to stop - lol!)

We agreed that they could come and see me any time with any questions they may have. I love the fact that they seemed genuinely interested, as opposed to people who ask just so that they can criticize and challenge everything you say.

It feels great to spread the spark.

What a great feeling! I bet you were floating all the way home! It seems to me that finding others who truly care about their health is a rare occasion. I believe that's why we enjoy SP so much, b/c HERE WE ARE TOGETHER to share. But real-life ppl who share our concern for living healthy is such a jewel in life. I hope for you that others will gather around you as real-life friends and support, maybe even exercise buddies! Perhaps your work could start a room with some exercise equipment for use during breaks and after work for it's employees!

Great to know you are doing so well that they were inspired to come and talk to you. It could have been hard for them to ask.

How about going along to their desks and inviting them to have lunch together so you can continue the discussion (and they'll see what your healthy lunch looks like), and grow a couple of new friendships?

I put a SparkPeople referral link onto the electronic noticeboard where I work, and 6 people have used it - but only after I've spoken further about it.
