A few months ago I joined the Brooks "Run Happy University." When I started running I didn't know how important proper shoes were, but I eventually found my way to a wonderful running store where they put me on a treadmill, analyzed my stride, and helped me find the perfect shoes, which for me are Brooks Adrenaline.
So, I'm a Brooks fan. On the Brooks web site, I found out about Run Happy U, and signed up. They sent me a cool little packet of goodies, including a collapsible water bottle, a running log, and neon shoelaces. Then I saw a contest they were having for the Run Happy U "Student of the Quarter." I wrote a little about my running and weight loss journey, and about my dad. When I wrote the story, Dad was still living and I talked about how seeing his suffering with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) made me realize what a gift good health is.
This week I was notified that I was the Grand Prize winner Student of the Quarter!!! So I get to choose free Brooks gear as my prize, including shoes, pants, shirt and hat! I've been shopping and this is over $300 worth of great stuff! I've never spent much money at all on gear (other than shoes) so it's kind of exciting. Juliana says I might actually have to go run in town where people can see me now that I'll be wearing something besides ratty t-shirts and a $2.00 thrift-store windbreaker!
