First Time Working Out at a Gym

Well decided to work exercise at gym. OMG! Did not work out so well. However I did work out my legs and arms. But I guess when I worked out my arms. I pulled a muscle or something. When I was working on my arms I noticed that my shoulder started hurting really bad. So I stopped. I tired to figure out what I did wrong. I did the two machines that I used to work my arms right. So I went to try to work on my abs. Could not do it. All the machines they have at my gym you have to hold onto a certain way. Yea that is how bad I hurt myself. So I completely stopped working out. And that was all Tuesday night. Yesterday my arm just had excruciating pain. Ugh! I felt like I couldn't take it. I went through all the medicine I have. Which is way too much. Anyways I found Bengay and put it where it hurts on my arms. Definitely made it feel so much better. And now today my left arm which is the one that had excruciating pain. I can not put it straight. I can move it I just put up with the pain. My right arm doesn't hurt as bad but still hurts. And I can put it straight. Back to my left arm. I took a shower this morning. I had a huge migraine and had gotten really dizzy. Ended falling and oh my gosh fell on my left arm. After that ordeal cannot move my arm what so ever. Ugh! Which really sucks. Well my whole point of this is I had my arm in a sling all day. I have took pain killers but has not took a little of the pain away. I am so debating on whether I should go to the hospital or what. I don't want to cause I feel like I may make a fool of myself. It could just be a pulled muscle or something that's not serious. I think I may just wait and see if it goes away. It looks like I wont be able to work my arms out for a while. Oh well!

    I would see a doctor. I put off seeing a doctor for a long time with my left shoulder, then I finally got physical therapy and that gave me back use of my arm and without pain. I continue to reinjury my shoulder with falls. I know I need to get back to exercises I learned in PT .

    I would say getting it looked at wouldn't be a bad idea. Sounds like you might have pulled a muscle, but if it were me, I'd want to know so I didn't cause further damage.

    If you have a doctor go to the doctor. He or she can refer you to a Physical Therepist. When I started running my knees hurt badly, thennnnn I felll on my kness. My knees hurt becuase the surrounding muscles were weak, She gave me great exercises. I ran a 10 k since then and I know that even the exercises help my back so maybe your surrounding muscles were weak. I would get it checked out, your not silly for doing that your taking care of your body.

    I'd definitely get it looked at - soon. Do you have an immediate care place near you? Does your doctor's office or insurance has a nurse's line? Pain is a sign that something is WRONG!!!! Listen to your body!

    When going to the gym and particularly using machines, you should definitely make sure you get an orientation. I know my gym offers them for free. There are so many wrong ways to use a machine (and get hurt) and only one right way - and the right way isn't always obvious. I see so many people using machines improperly and it is painful just to watch.
