I have never really been an athlete. I played softball as a kid. Volleyball in middle school. I wanted to be in sports but I had poorly controlled asthma. I speed walked a 15 minute mile as a freshman. I wasn't overweight. 5' 6" and 115 pounds. I would just start wheezing with the slightest aerobic activity. Thankfully, now there are better regimens. I also, think I have somewhat out grown my asthma. I have wanted to "learn to run" for several years but never really had the true motivation to follow through. I made a somewhat secret resolution this New Years to run a 5K. Sometime before the end of 2013, I will accomplish that. I have shared this with 2 friends. Both who were immediately supportive in completely different ways. In January, I plan to speed walk a 5K on my treadmill (I live in Indiana) everyday that I'm off work or only work 8 hours. That amounts to 4-5 days of walking per week. I hoping this will condition my lungs so that I can walk/jog in February. Then jog/run in March. Sounds doable? We shall see.
