Weight Loss Center - MGH

Thursday, January 10, 2013

I had my first visit to MGH's Weight Loss Center this morning. They took a bunch of blood and then I sat with a psychologist for an hour. Brought up alot of things I had hidden away. Definately a link between my overeating, lack of motivation and emotions. I then met with a nutritionist who asked me what I ate currently and what I ate when I was overeating/binging.

I go back next week to meet with the team that will include a medical doctor, nutritionist and psychologist. They'll present their recommendation.

In speaking with the psychologist, he feels I'm depressed. THat made me cry. I thought the zoloft I took was supposed to help that. He recommended I work with a therapist and referred me to the CBT clinic. Earliest appointment is April.

It's a start.

Sorry you got bad news from the psychologist, but at least now you know and have a chance to work on feeling better. I wish you the best of luck.

I absolutely know that my weight issues were very intertwined with my depression.... and although therapy was challenging and hard, it was worth all the effort. See all this as a huge positive step in the right direction.
