Well here I go . . . again!

Every year seems to be the same - I lose about 7 pounds by the time June rolls around and by January I've gained it back. And in between I try all kinds of things.

Well another year and here I go again. This time I'm committing to Paleo - tried it in the past, liked it, but then fell off the Paleo wagon. I started the day after Christmas (jeez I went hog crazy most of December on Christmas treats) and so far I've been following it and enjoying it. This time 'round though I'm not being as strict - i.e. I've used bottled mayo if I don't have any homemade mayo on hand. I'm also following more of a Paleo 2 approach (where dairy and white potatos are not the fall of mankind). I still haven't eaten white potatos but right now I'm cooking a grassfed beef stew and I threw in a couple of [gasp] white potatos. I'm also going to make some plantains tostones with my stew - sorry - losing focus thinking about yummy stew.

And last weekend we went to a ranch about 45 mins from where I live and we picked up some raw milk - first time trying it - so yummy. Again, I'm not drinking milk every day but a bit of whole, creamy milk I think is yummily acceptable.

Anyways - I've got a ways to go to lose the weight I want but I'm feeling good and not rushed about it. I've lost some of the weight I gained over the holidays without feeling hungry or deprived.

    Welcome back! The summers I spent one my grandparents' farm in Kentucky carry the memories of drinking fresh, whole, raw milk with the cream skimmed off the top to make delicious butter. The paleo diet is interesting, and I've incorporated a bit of it into our healthier eating plan, but just a bit too restrictive for me. I like that you are tweaking it to fit your own likes and preferences. It's all about the balance. Again, glad to see you posting!

    Everyone has a system that works best for you--the Paleo diet sounds intriguing!

I think what is important is not to throw in the towel if you backslide a little. Keep up the positive attitude and keep trying! You will get there!

    I don't know much about the Paleo diet, but good luck. Sounds like it's working if you've always lost some of the weight you gained over the holidays! Keep it up!
