New Beginnings: Week 6 & Week 7
Thursday, January 10, 2013
I haven't written in my blog since day 12...oh noooo!! It's ok, but I decided I was being much too ambitious to commit to write everyday, so now I am committing to write once per week. Let's see how that goes...
Week 6 weigh-in on Dec 31st wasn't good, as I expected. (A gain of 6 lbs.) I simply found it incredibly difficult to stay with my protocol when I was out and about all day in the City and was with my family and another...lots of people to make happy with food choices. I did ok at my in-laws for the first few days, since we didn't go out to eat and I was able to say no thanks to the food pushers. Then we went to New York, which we do every X-Mas for my kids to spend some time with their cousins and see the sights. I did fine in the morning and sort of half-heartedly tried at lunch, but dinner was out the window. I really admire those sparkers who were able to stay on protocol when away and eating out all the time. But that week is over and I started back on track on Monday, January 1st and have been doing well.
Week 7 showed a 8 lb loss, which was fantastic, but really was only a 2 lb loss over 3 weeks because of my set back. But the important thing is that it was a loss. It still is a total of 18 lbs! it's over and I have my focus back!!! I'm hoping to hit over 20 lbs and be out of the 190's at my week 8 weigh in!
I have found that this week, I just am not interested in food or meal preparing. I would be happy to simply drink my IP protein drinks and be done with it, but as I am the meal preparer in our family, it is up to me to put dinner on the table. Some days I do better than others...sometimes I feed "them" doctored up frozen meals and then make myself something simple. I also decided that I am totally sick of broccoli!!! Excuse my french, but I was literally gagging trying to get down the last bites yesterday! So, I got motivated and started looking for ideas on how to cook other various vegetables and I am happy to say that I tried making the cauliflower "rice" yesterday and really enjoyed it sautéed with garlic, scallions, and soy sauce. I will be having that probably every day! Thanks fellow Sparkers who gave me that idea!! I have gotten venturesome and tried some new veggies, but I really am a salad, broccoli, cabbage, green bean type of girl and that's about it. But I did try jicama and thought that was ok. Now cauliflower is on my plan and who knows what next week will bring. I can always try stuff and if I don't like it, don't eat it again.
