First step

Our daughter got a tummyache after consuming food. It started a year ago, and we simply thought: ignore it.
After four months we had an appointment with our GP, but as she grows, is good in sport - he was not too concerned and suggested to wait a bit. Perhaps she will grew out?

But in Novembre she had tummyache after every meal. On weekdays, on weekends, in holidays, when eating healthy as well when she ate pizza or something "unhealthy".

So I made an appointment with a specialist (we only got one gastroenterologist for kids, in the hospital. Here in Germany we normaly go to resident physician). He entered the room and my first thought was: oh, THATS what Santa does between christmas!
Today we had the second appointment (getting blood out of my daughters body was a bit of a challenge, not that SHE had a problem ... ) and it was another doctor. He send us straight to make an appointment for a fructose and lactose intolerance test.
So, next week we BOTH will be tested. They said, that often it runs in the family and they often test the parents as well.

I'm pretty happy, cause the waitinglist for good gastroenterologist - even for adults - are long.

Thanks seattle - tomatoes are very high in histamine - so a lot of people do not tolerate them. I got a lot of other food allergies, so I know it .. :/

What a calming effect it will be for you all when you find the culprit. Our daughter would get cramps and then loose stools after anything tomatoes when she was little and we ignored it also, but as she grew older, it got worse, so it couldn't be ignored any more. She's 23 now and completely stays away from anything tomato and is fine. We each are a piece of science, aren't we?! There are alot more people out there with food allergies than we know. I even talked to a couple of local pizza joints and each one said that there are alot of people that choose pizza with the cheesy white sauce and have zero tomatoes on their pizzas. Good luck to you and your daughter!!

Thanks LRB - I can SEE how bad she is after eating - she gets pretty pale and the cramps are horrible. I only get sick.
So I'm really happy that we got an appointment so quick!

It sounds exactly like lactose intollerance. For about a year my son said his tummy hurt just about every day. He drank a lot of milk daily. One day he finally just basically stopped eating. We thought he was going through a phase, so after a few days we took him in. They tested him for food allergies and sure enough...we found our culprit.
