Bento Box to the Rescue!!!!

Last night my Bento saved me from over eating. My sister and I made our own sushi. It was very yummy. We also had Spinach dumplings.

I was this close to way overeating by finishing my half of the several rolls we made, certainly too much food for one meal, when I decided to save enough for a nice Bento lunch. I stopped eating and set aside the rest of my meal. This is amazing for me because I love sushi and it can be difficult to stop.
I had also purchased mochi for dessert and since I had already reached my food limit for the meal, decided to save it for my Bento Lunch
I have three bento boxes and a TON of accessories that she (sister) brought me back from her study abroad in Japan. Why not play?


BENTO Contents:
Sushi (avocado, carrot, crab, cucumber)- 1 spinach dumpling-Seasame Mochi- Baby Carrots & Cucumber Sticks-Kiwi


I think I will try this strategy in the future when I have too much Dinner on my plate. This actually happens maybe once a week (or slightly less) since I am really only cooking for two. I am really good at it but now and then there is not quite enough for leftover’s or I over estimate my appetite and I split everything between two plates. I still have the bad habit of finishing my plate even when I am already satisfied. I need to remember that Bento can be a fun and creative way to use the extra. Mine are not always pretty or elaborate like some you see on the internet but it is fun to do. It also is fantastic portion control!

    Great idea!! This is always one of my challenges...when I cook at home, I immediately pack everything in portion controlled (though not as cool!) containers, but when I eat out I always forget to get a to-go box and put away half my meal until it's too late! Good for you, it's a really sound strategy!!

    i LOVE me some sushi...or (even better) good quality sashimi. :) And spinach dumplings sound wickedly good.

    I need to get me a bento box or two...it's so nice to dress up "leftovers"

    I'm not into sushi, but I like the idea of the Bento box. ANd who knows, maybe my daughter (who lives with me, is also a sparker, and does most of the cooking and food prep) and I will explore including more sushi in the diet. As it is, we're trying to eat vegetarian at least 3 times a week.
