I haven’t posted a blog in a while. With work and Christmas, I have been so busy.
I wanted to take some time and reflect on my progress over the last 6 months. I am not one for tooting my own horn, but I think I need to put in writing the things I have achieved. I want all the changes I have made to be permanent ones.
My Top 10 Achievements!!
1. I can lose weight while being happy.
All my previous weight loss successes were tied to stress or a life crisis. I now know I can be happy and healthy. Happiness is not tied to food!
2. I can control what I eat.
Tracking my food has been the biggest help for me. I keep myself accountable everyday for what I put in my mouth. It can be a huge pain in the backside but it works!
3. I can run 5k.
Running is something I have always wanted to do. Now I can!
4. I can feel good about myself.
I see the changes in my body over the last 6 months and even though I am not perfect, I feel good about what I see.
5. I can say No!
Guess it is the same as controlling what I eat… but it’s also saying no to peer pressure. People are always offering you food, at home, and at the office. I have learned to say “No thank you”. I am not depriving myself; I just don’t want to spend my calories on a donut or a piece of cake.
6. I can stick with my weight loss plan!
I was sick before Christmas and had to take a couple weeks off from working out…Then Christmas happened. It seemed like I was never going to get back on track but I did. I managed being sick and getting through Christmas without gaining weight and without losing sight of my goals. I understand that there will always be bumps in the road I just need to deal with them and move on.
7. I can be proud of myself.
In the past, I could not take a complement… If someone said something nice about me, I would not believe them. Now… I’ve had people say wow you’ve lost a lot a weight and I can say ‘Thank you, yes I have!”. If they ask me how I tell them all about Sparkpeople!!
8. I can find the time.
It is so easy to talk yourself out of exercising. That old voice says “I don’t have time”. Now I make time, whether it’s just walking the dog or running on the treadmill…I make time.
9. I can push myself.
When I do workout I just keep thinking “If it doesn’t challenge you it doesn’t change you”. I push myself to run faster and to go further. I push myself to try harder.
10. I can do it!!
I am 5 pounds away from my goal weight and I know I can do it!!
My next big challenge will be to get through my holidays. I am going to Cuba for a week at the end of January to an all-inclusive resort. All the food and booze you can handle. I want to enjoy myself without gaining weight! Wish me luck!!
Thank you Sparkpeople!!
