Good evening, Sparkies! :-)
On that note, yep, I work with kids. K – 6. And they like to MOVE.
I attended a training (I'm Moving, I'm Learning) for work in 2011, and it was amazing and well worth it. They gave so many tips on giving children healthier food (that is out of my hands :-/ ), and how to get them more active! It inspired me to totally cut computer time from our day to make room for playing outside longer, or being able to run around in the gym more.
I do love to chase them, I do love to play catch with them...I'm always drawing hopscotches for them on the playground. They just never cease to inspire me to keep moving, and as long as I'm there, I want to be able to keep up with them!!!
I also worked at a Girl Scout camp for the summers of 2007, '08, and '09. '08 was the best.
We were SO very, very active. We walked EVERYWHERE.
We had a week-long staff training which consisted of sitting and reading lots of useful information, CPR/AED/First Aid...we had archery certification, and we'd get an orientation on the low-ropes course...and we also traversed the camp on foot, from one end to the other, up, down, all-around...and...the HILLS.
They. Were. EVERYWHERE.
My first summer at camp definitely had me seeing some weight loss. WOW.
And then, of course, there was actual resident camp, where you got to hang with a group of girls for the week...then you'd do archery, low-ropes, hiking, camp-traversing, playing games on the sports field (the only place in camp you were allowed to run!), swimming, and so much more with them. Everyone always slept well (minus the homesick campers, or the ones scared of storms or raccoons).
It was generally an awesome time. There was always so much to do! It didn't even feel like work...and I apply so much of what I learned to daycare, at the community center where I have been for the past 5 years.
(...have I mentioned that I don't drive? Work is [at least, now] a 5 – 6 minute walk for me...that's 10 – 12 minutes to/from work. It's been amazing, on this journey, to watch myself shave time off of my commute!!!)
That's all for tonight! ;-)
