This is a view of Vancouver Downtown that I see when I am walking back from my daughter's now it may not be a very good picture but it will give you an idea of what I see. I love the city at night, I love seeing the lights, always have. My earliest memory of going over the Embassator Bridge in Windsor was seeing the city lights on either side - LOVED IT...
But that is not what this blog is about. Its about habbits or routines or patterns if you want to call it that. Thanks Irene in BC for introducing this some time ago...
In the morning I have a particular routine - I get up, say hello to the cat, use my light theapy then go into the shower, get out dry my hair, make breakfast, east breakfast, then spark for a bit, maybe just read, not always commenting, shut down the computer, go brush my fangs, get dressed for work and get my lunch packed and in its bag and go out the door to get the bus.... I very very seldom stray from that routine.
I think we all have a routine, some of us are more attentive to theirs then others.
I have been working on changing other routines in my life, snacking, over eating, not exercising, etc.
I have so far developed two new routines that have become a part of my life, I have been able to eliminate nightly snacking 80% of the time, and I have increased my water intake at work 80% of the time. My current one is no snacking at work at 10 AM - I tend to save some of my breakfast for snack at work, no problem, right ? WRONG !! My breakfast should be eaten for breakfast, its the MOST important meal of the day and gives me fuel and starts my day off right. BUT I can still have a snack at 10 right? NOPE wrong again, for me anyway. AFTER the stomach digests the big breakfast I have had it needs a rest - like any of us who work hard - so that it can function again for lunch.
Its only been two days but its going good and I am enjoying my lunch more because I am truly hungry when I go to the lunch room to eat.
Its not been easy and I've 9 more habits/routines/patterns left to go as I intend to create 12 new ones to replace 12 not so good ones.. it will be fun coming up with the next one, but thanks to Marion@ I already know what next month's will be - NO WOOLFING down my food !!!
Oh and I am also trying new foods, persimmons, papya, and other fruits that I have never tried before. I have already brought in new vegetables and legumes so the new fruits are a nice change.
I really think these changes will be good for my over all health and life style ...
So is changing routine good for you to help you suceed? OR are you happy just the way you are?
