I started to sit down and write that this was the first moment I've just sat and did something that didn't have anything to do with homeschooling, chores, or weight loss. But then I decided to listen to Spark Radio. I'm listening to the segment about New Year's resolutions, and how they should be reasonable. I'm not a big one for resolutions, anyway, but I have made those kinds in the past...the "I won't drink Coke anymore ever, or I'm cutting out sugar entirely, or I will lose 100 pounds this year!" And 3 weeks in I ditch them because 1) they're too restrictive, or 2) the resolution of the goal is so far away that I lose sight of it completely.

So I'm not making those kinds of resolutions this year. Monthly goals instead. My goal for the month of January is to lose 4 pounds by the 29th which will be a pound a week. I'm already a pound down in the first week so yay, I'm 25 percent there!

Now, I'm REALLY going to relax for the half hour I have left before my 6yo's bedtime. No homeschool, chores, or weight loss stuff. And after that, I'm off to bed myself.

    I agree - the monthly goals are so much easier to follow! Woohoo for being 25% of the way to your goal already.
