I went to the doctor's this morning for my upper respiratory infection. He prescribed some kid of cough medicine with codeine in it (which knocked me out after my first dose, which screwed up my eating habits and destroyed any chance of cleaning my apartment today) and Zithromax. He was impressed that I managed to lose three pounds since mid-November, since Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years is a hard time for everyone to keep healthy habits and everything. Hopefully now that I have a plan, it'll be easier.
We also talked about maybe getting more of my endocrine stuff looked at and a lipid panel. I am at very low risk for diabetes and my blood pressure has almost always been really healthy, but he wonders if I might have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) or metabolic syndrome. I'm going to see the endocrinologist on the 28th. I wish my doctor was the endocrinologist--I have much better rapport with him and I feel like he listens more than she does. I know I'm going to ask for Armour Thyroid, because this 75mcg weekday/50mcg weekend routine just isn't helping me, even if the blood tests are saying otherwise. At least she seems open to having me on it if this didn't work, so I'm hopeful she doesn't push back too hard. I'm obviously not the expert here, she is, but I'm hoping she's receptive to my concerns in any case.
Today I also went shopping. I am pretty proud of myself for not buying any soda or sweets. Well, I did get two candy bars but I've only eaten half of one. That is huge for me. Normally, if I get two, I eat two. But if I don't buy any at all, then I crave it all the time. But I did make healthy choices today and I'm excited about that.
Also, I feel the need to remind people that just because something is vegetarian doesn't mean it's light. I went out on a limb and made a recipe called crunchy walnut risotto, but once I put in the ingredients, it came up to 616 calories, with 47g fat! I'm hoping it's not too bad for me, considering I'm on Alli right now. But it's good to know that one serving gives me that much. I'll have half a serving next time, and incorporate a salad or something. But it is pretty tasty.
Hopefully tomorrow I'm feeling well enough to get a bit of exercise in. I miss it.
