I'm so full right now that it feels like the contents of my stomach can't be contained..
Oi. I inhaled a dish of Mexican Gumbo from Qdoba tonight. Jeff looks at me "Why are you so hungry whenever you get home? Don't you eat lunch?" And I just look look at my nearly empty bowl, look at the time, look back at him and reply "Lunch was 7 hours ago."
I'm really good at planning out what to have for breakfasts and dinners but I never plan well enough ahead for everything else in between.
I really need to figure out some patterns that I can operate in so that it takes some of the guess work out. I like the idea of a cheese stick and almonds as a snack--an Olympian made this recommendation, so it's GOTTA be good, right?--but I also need more freggies in my diet, so I'm thinking that the morning snack should be something along those lines.
I find that I only really go into a terrible binge when I get terribly hungry. If I eat before I get too desperate, I can keep my head and make good decisions. I keep a bag of almonds in my desk... I was caught unprepared tonight, though. I think I need to find something to stash in the car, too.

Girl I am the SAME way! This is actually my numero uno goal for this new year... to better plan out my afternoons so I don't binge like a mad woman when I get home from work. Having healthy snacks at work is a MUST. Also, I used to occasionally have an afternoon cup of coffee at work, but this past week I switched to tea (green and raspberry) and for some reason that makes me feel more "full" and "satisfied" than the coffee did. Can you eat at your desk? I think you have some good ideas to get going.

My solution to the office worker's conundrum has been to eat a good sized breakfast before work (today for instance was an egg poached in 1/2 cup salsa with a tortilla and a green smoothie that was 1/2 cup yogurt + a huge handful of spinach + a handful of frozen pineapple chunks...most days are a variation on the 1-2 eggs, veggies/fruits, & coffee theme). I drink a huge mug of green tea throughout the morning, have a snack if I get hungry before lunch (nuts, usually), and then I don't eat lunch till like 2pm or 3pm. My coworkers think I'm bonkers (they all eat lunch at like 11:30, when I'm still all "mmmm...green tea & almonds"), but then it's not such a long stretch to dinner. If I'm hitting the gym after work, I have a kind bar or similar about half an hour before I leave (nothing worse than starving through a workout and bonking horribly), and then dinner is usually 7pm-8pm.

Oh, and I used to totally crash on lunches by trying to be super healthy there but not enough calories or protein, etc... Better to have a bigger lunch than to eat two full dinner portions because you are hungry... Part of listening to your body is knowing when to stop, BUT also knowing when to eat more!
Or make these! They look delicious!
That's the kind of detox I can go on with you... Real food, just not processed and without refined sugars.. In fact, I could probably do it while pregnant if you wanted to look into it.
I need to try get back to sleep... Vampire neighbors upstairs are finally quiet again. They typically come awake every night from 1-4AM

At least you recognized this and are thinking out a plan... My two favourite filling work snacks were ants on a log and greek yogurt with homemade raw granola (rolled oats and chopped up dried fruit... Delish.... Easy as anything). A lot of Greek yogurts do have added sugar, but usually a more healthy option can be found than HFCS or other thins like that. Chobani also makes a delicious honey yogurt... Though I personally like plain with my own honey for the tart bits and the super sweet bits. I digress... You are amazing. I love your wedding dress. Stay motivated!

I did the same thing tonight, although I was saving room for it all day. Like that works? Saving room? Haha. I still feel full. But a chinese buffet date is a chinese buffet date!
I think that having a regular office job must make it really hard to figure out food. The mix of being mostly sedentary and not having meal times as frequently as you probably should would be really frustrating! I have the freedom to eat at just about any time throughout the day, and the only time I get too hungry is when I forget to eat. Ha, imagine that!
If you are able to eat at your desk pretty much whenever you want, I would aim for a mix of complex carbs and protien. You don't HAVE to have freggies with every snack and meal. That might be overthinking it. I think as long as you are aiming for *real* food, you'll be good. Things like cheese and almonds, apple and nut butter, carrots and hummus, etc. These are all excellent choices. Yogurt with granola or oatmeal mixed in is another good one (although most pre-flavored yogurts are packed with sugar and corn syrup, but you can sweeten your own with fruit and honey). If you're concerned that you aren't getting enough freggies, maybe you can focus on very veggie-heavy dinners along with one serving with breakfast and one or two at lunch?

Celery or apple slices with peanut butter. You get your "freggies", and some protein and healthy fats. You could use any nut butter, really. For me, protein is the key to staying satisfied longer. I've even chopped up a hard boiled egg and wrapped it in some romaine lettuce. It's a good little protein fix.

My opinion...have the cheese stick and almonds, but a very carefully measured and limited amount of them...and then have as many freggies as you want if you're still hungry.

I have the same issue-- I binge when I am too hungry and let too much time lapse between snacks/meals.
Are you eating enough fiber and protein according to your food log? Maybe munch on some grapes for a snack- I've literally been eating 2-3 C of red grapes everyday for the last two weeks lol. Bananas? Pb on something? String cheese always makes me hungrier for some reason lol.
Anyway, it's great you recognize this! Just try and plan a little better and you'll conquer the snackies!
