My DH retired on January 3rd. So we are now in a new phase of life. We still have to get up really early since DD2 has to catch a 6:36 bus to school. So rather than an alarm at 5:30, I get to wake up to one at 5:45. DH is now my exercise partner and we are planning on going to the gym 5 days a week. Tomorrow he gets set up on the weight machines. So we will go to the gym around 9:30. I will do 30 minutes of cardio and an hour of yoga. He will do his cardio and get set up on the machines. Then we will get cleaned up and go to lunch with my DD1 who has worked her last day as a nanny today and will start her new job as assistant director at a tutoring center on Monday. After a year of makeshift jobs she has a real 40 hour a week job.
DH and I have slowly been undecorating the house. The tree came down today. We still have the outdoor lights to get down and the windows in the sun room are still swagged with greenery. We should have it all down by this weekend. We also have overnight guests this weekend so I have two company meals to fix. It is kind of funny having no real reason to have firm deadlines for when stuff has to be done. We will just take it one day at a time.

Nice to have your hubby as a workout partner.
I, too am in the take down the decorations stage. Almost everything put where it belongs.
Looks like we are getting off to a good start for the year!

Have a great week!

Congrats to your DH. We are retired although you wouldn't know it. I'm sure you will enjoy so many things together now that he is retired. Glad to hear he will be your exercise partner!

How great that you will have your DH as a workout partner! Getting healthy together and sharing an activity together, wonderful combination.

Be patient with yourself and each other... getting used to retirement can take a little while. Peter had retired from teaching before I met him, so in our case it was him getting used to having me around all the time. Now, I find that we enjoy doing ordinary little errands together sometimes, but other times he's off "doing his own thing" or working in the basement on his model railway layout while I'm off to a meeting or lunch & a movie with a friend. Whatever your routine turns out to be, it's great to have more time for each other.

So nice that hubby is getting healthy too. I can't get mine to go. I think working out keeps them young, don't you?

That is awesome that your hubby will be joining you at the gym! And do not worry about taking Christmas down. Mine is still up as we are waiting to celebrate it with my other son & grand children. One year I left it up until my birthday Feb 2 only because everyone kept telling me I had to take it down!
