I am forcing myself to write this because blogging is meant to help ...

For the last two nights I have overeaten ... and it is annoying because I am so good all day. I think what is happening is that I get home and I'm all alone and I've been vigilant all day, working hard and keeping my food and exercise up ... On goes the TV and BOOM ... in goes the food!

Its so annoying because its so destructive!

As I type, I realise that I have to take breaks throughout the day ... I can work consistently for 10 hours straight and only take minor breaks to eat lunch and have a cup of tea ... maybe have a brief chat but otherwise, I am fully focussed on tasks - I am so driven all day that by the time I get home, I have nothing left in terms of self discipline!

I also realise that I have not done my grocery shopping since returning from my holiday so my action plan is:
- Do my grocery shopping today (and get lots of fresh fruit and veg for my snacks)
- Take breaks throughout the day so that I am more relaxed when I leave work
- Plan my dinner meals and have them ready to prepare before I get home so I don't start snacking on other foods while I think about what to cook for tea
- Find healthy, enjoyable and regular ways to relax in the evenings.

Ok ... I best get back to work now - that was a nice break ... I'm feeling better already! :)

    I was having the same problem with the night eating I tried to adjust what I was eating during the day to make sure that I was eating lots of nutritious and filling things. That way once it is dinner time/relax time, I can eat my dinner, enjoy it, and be done with it. Last night, I found myself wandering into the kitchen and opening the cabinets and fridge/freezer looking for food. Then I realized what I was doing, and turned around and walked out. Old habits die hard, you just have to remember WHY you want those bad habits to die.

    You have a great plan there Sal. Just keep working on it, you can tackle this. A couple of things I've been doing the last 10 days that seem to be working wonders for me:
- EAT! hahaha I used to do exactly what you just wrote about...I'd be at work and 'forget' to eat properly for 5/6/7 hours on the go! By the time work is over I'm ravenous and I want to go home and eat myself silly. I'm working on eat every 2.5-3 hours now. It's been BRILLIANT I'm telling ya! As soon as I start feeling that rumble in the tummy, it's time to eat again. Small, filling, little meals. So by the time I get home, I'm not that hungry but still have space for a small dinner and little snack a couple of hours after that. Give it a go.
- Also, maybe try not having the stuff in your house? Easier said that done, believe me I know. So at least if you go on a binge, you'll have no choice but to binge on...lettuce and apples emoticon

Keep at it girl. One step at a time. And blogging definitely helps. emoticon

    Blogging really does help. So many people here on SP will cheer you on and hold you accountable when you feel like quitting.

  There is a really good article by Coach Jen about night eating...do a search in Spark for it ! She has great ideas
