start 5k training

I started my 5k training today. I will run the Zeta Tau Alpha 5k on March 16 of this year. I have WALKED the race in previous years - think we came in last place last year. Well, we weren't trying that hard.


ok, or at all, my girlfriends and I walked slowly and talked and laughed the whole way!

I want more than that this year. I want to finish with a time I can be proud of, and my daughter can be proud of - she belongs to the Zetas and she helps to organize the event.

So I got involved with the SP virtual race training. I downloaded a training schedule only to discover that I am already training with week three training.

Today when I got to the gym I realized I had forgotten my Itouch at home. UGH! I can't run without music. Then I stopped myself - of course I can run without music...what am I thinking??

Into the gym I went, onto the treadmill I went. Walk 3 run 2, walk 3 run 2 for 30 minutes. If I can keep that up for 50 minutes I will have done a 5K. The training today only called for 30 minutes.

I did this easily!


Well.....not easily, but it was ok, the 2 minute runs were not bad, even without my music. I am pleased by this. Tomorrow will be another day of running like this for 30 minutes. Another day with my trainer as well....

Keep fighting the good fight my peeps!


PS Oh yeah - a smaller number on the scale this morning than I have seen in a long while!

    The music helps but na, you dont NEED it :). We run at a cemetery so we don't play music there ..seems inappropriate lol. Good job for going to the gym anyway, not making excuses is the biggest obstacle!
