So I'm thinking of maybe going vegan for a month. Not because I have any particular moral qualms about eating meat (where I live, the chickens are so free range they follow you down the street). And not because I don't think I can lose weight on a more traditional eating plan, but because I think that being a vegan for a month will make me have to be way more mindful about what I am putting into my mouth.
I think it would be a good exercise in mindfulness to have to actually think about everything I eat, and to have to say "no" to things that I want, because right now it is way to easy to just eat whatever is there without thinking.
I'm waiting until after the weekend, because my birthday is Friday, and there is a BBQ on Saturday for me. I know that there will be ribs, which are a rare treat in this part of the world. So Monday morning is my plan.
I've been to the market--bought soy milk for coffee, chickpeas, lentils, whole wheat pasta and brown rice. I brought almonds, walnuts, quinoa, dried fruit and Kind Bars back from The States with me last week, and I'll go the the veggie stand this weekend.
There is a package of pork chops in my freezer for emergencies, but I think I can do this for a month.
