Work harder, be stronger, lose more

Wednesday, January 09, 2013

My family has never been a family of thin people. We've never be terribly overweight either, but the only 'skinny' one would be my my second oldest sister. All of the rest of us have always struggled with weight.
My younger brother and I especially have always had weight issues since we were young kids. This last year my brother just started going to the gym every day and working out for an hour. Then he started changing his eating habits. He lost tons of weight! I'm so proud of him and he's keeping it up and even starting to learn how to lift weights to tone up his now skinny body. My mom and eldest sister and I have slowly been gaining weight over the last 10 years and we've all reached the 200 pound or higher mark. We all live in different cities, and some of us (me and my skinny sister) in different countries. We are all planning on going to my parents place this year for Christmas 2013, the first time we've all been together since 2009.
My eldest sister and my mom have started using an app on their phones for tracking calories and exercise. And my sister has lost 5 pounds. My mom has dropped below 200, and here I am, not moving an inch on the scale. I've been on SP since 2010 or earlier and I have only gained weight, not lost it.
Today after talking with my mom on the phone and she mentioned that she's just walking every day, which is what I'm doing, and tracking her calories, she's dropped below 200! That's awesome! But I'm so pissed at myself for not doing anything. I don't want to join everyone for Christmas next year and be the only fat one in the family! I mean, what the heck! If my whole family can get on the train and stay committed, then why can't I? I have the resources, I have the motivation, now I just need to commit and say no to those things that I crave and yes to healthier choices. I feel like if I know that my mom and sister are working towards this goal every day, then I can be working towards it too, and I have this thought that I want to work harder, be stronger, lose more. Is that bad?

Maybe that could just be my mantra.

Work harder, be stronger, lose more. Work harder, be stronger, lose more. Work harder, be stronger, lose more. Work harder, be stronger, lose more. Work harder, be stronger, lose more. Work harder, be stronger, lose more. Work harder, be stronger, lose more. Work harder, be stronger, lose more. Work harder, be stronger, lose more. Work harder, be stronger, lose more. Work harder, be stronger, lose more. Work harder, be stronger, lose more. Work harder, be stronger, lose more. Work harder, be stronger, lose more.
