I am cooking lunch right now, and had to wash the dishes to do so. I was thinking about when I started, and what I considered exercise then. I started to laugh, because dishes was exercise back then. Now I do it without thinking about it. After lunch I am going to take a 15-30 minute walk just to enjoy the weather, along the river. Since I am not going to hurry, I don't consider it exercise, and won't log it. Tonight I will be playing basketball for my exercise, hopefully an hour.
Since our opinion changes with the time, I started thinking about it. We loved exercise as children, but it changed into lifting heavy weights, and suffering through elliptical, and treadmill cardio. I love walking, basketball, and riding my bike. Running is something I think I should be doing, but unless I could do it well, I don't think it would be fun. I find it easier to eat well after I exercise. I just worked my tail off, so not going to offset it with macaroni and cheese.
So making sure you DO your exercise is important, but we tend to hate most gym exercise, except maybe cardio classes. I have named my favorite forms of non-gym exercise.. if you read this, please leave what your favorites are. Not what you actually do now, but what you did as children, and think would be fun to do now. Things like Frisbee, not a video.
I think as adults we have forgotten how to have fun exercise, so maybe if we list fun things to do to burn calories, it will help someone else who reads this blog.
