I had my appointment with the orthopedist this morning. My imagination had been working overtime, giving me visions of bone cancer (like my dad), surgery (still don't know how we would have handled that), and stress fractures. I didn't realize how scared I was until he gave me the good news.
My hip joint itself is OK (no problem with the bones). I do have EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome - a connective-tissue disorder which causes loose joints) but the main problem was weak muscles which allowed the tendon to move over the bone in ways it shouldn't. My prescription? Stronger anti-inflammatories & exercises I can do AT HOME to strengthen & support the joint!
He suggested cartilage injections for my poor, loose, arthritic knees, but was supportive of the work I'd done on the recumbent bike to strengthen them and is OK with me going back to that. He even supported my plan to work back up to running!
I can't tell you how relieved and happy I am! God is good!
