So Saturday is the day! I get to run! Can you tell I am excited!? Well I am!
I would love for you, Spark Peeps throughout the world, to be a part of this with me. My dear spriend, Doglady13, had a wonderful idea to celebrate this occasion together. Since it is with much support from my spriends that I am where I am today, I can think of no better way than to share and celebrate this with you all.
The background, for those who don’t know. I have been sidelined from jogging/running since July when I had ACL (knee) surgery. Just when I was beginning to sorta like running, I was disallowed. Last year at this time I was writing blogs about how I hated running, but I’d give it a shot. In May I ran my first 5k, it was ok, but I learned that I wanted to do another. So here I am, finally ready to hit the pavement with a little more pace than a quick walk.
Yes, I am scared. Yes, it will be a SHORT run. Yes, I will be good and where my knee brace (even if I don’t want to). And yes, this will happen! So join me???!!!
It does not matter where you are geographically, or where you are on your fitness journey, whether you’re an avid runner, beginning runner, or a walker, just move with me. I will be running at or around noon (CA time). So, I invite you to get moving with me. Run a little farther or up a hill, walk a little farther or maybe a little faster? Just push yourself a little tiny more than you would. I am reminded of yoga poses, how difficult they are for me, being as flexible as a piece of rebar. That each time I practice I push a little more into a pose, that ‘little’ being a millimeter at a time. That reminds me, I miss yoga too!
So Saturday, get out and move with me. I will be thinking of you all and I hope you will be sending good vibes my way too!
I dedicate this first run back to myself, for being a good patient and working hard for the past 6 months. I also dedicate this first run to Spark People in general. It is here that I have found support that I have been unable to get elsewhere. But mostly, I dedicate this first run to all of us who read this! We are doing it, even if it’s at a millimeter at a time!
Thanks to my dearest Spriends, you have made this journey bearable! I love you all and together 2013 will be our best yet!!!
PS. The title of this blog reflects how my legs will probably feel afterwards and the need to use the RICE method when I get home :)
