Yesterday I drove 1.5 hours in each direction to attend my friend's funeral. I was SO hoping the officiate knew Helen (it's always so impersonal if they don't know the deceased) and he did. He was able to bring Helen's personality into his message. And her sis-in-law had written a wonderful tribute to Helen and spoke through her emotions to bring Helen to life one more time for us. Many of us were smiling and nodding through our tears. Sitting beside me was another friend from childhood whom I haven't seen for about 30 years. We've exchanged email addresses and will keep in touch from now on.
Helen won't be buried until the spring, but once she is resting at the cemetery I plan to take my drum there and drum over her one last time. She now has her arms and legs back, and her son who was killed in a car accident years ago.
This morning there was a full house at knitting group. I'm about 1/2 way done my scarf now. One of the other ladies there was handing out copies of a pattern (easy!) to make pneumonia prevention vests for little ones in India. They are needed by early March. So, I raised my hand and have decided to make one (this will give me the incentive to get my scarf & my sisters scarf done).
Also, someone donated a loom (small table top size). I decided to claim it & will take it to my Dad's soon...perhaps he can teach me how to weave afterall!
After lunch I'm off to Mom's nursing home. Can't believe it's nearly a year since she moved there. We are having her first annual care conference meeting today, so both my sisters & my dad will be there with mom.
Staying on track this week. Need to fit some exercise in today yet, but I will!
