Of Hair Cuts and To-Do Lists

Wednesday, January 09, 2013

I was upset yesterday; I kept thinking of the million things I have to get done before I go on vacation in two weeks. When that happens, I start shutting down and playing too much Solitaire and putting things off until "tomorrow". It is an easy problem for me to fix though; I just make a list of all that has to be done and assign it to a day and get the whole mess out of my head and onto a piece of paper. Roadmap.

So, yesterday I decided it was time to get my hair cut. The cleaning person we have twice a month didn't get here until afternoon though but I stayed for half of her time, told her what I wanted done, etc. and left she and DH to go do something with my long, fly-away, straggly, messy hair. It's a bit too short now but will do; it should be perfect by the end of my vacation in a month (I hope).

I also decided to go to the thrift store and see if I could find some short sleeve tops (that aren't t-shirts, all I have) and that worked extremely well; I found 5-6+ for only $15. I got a couple more stray items on my list of things I needed, small basket filters for the car outlet coffee pot DH bought me for Christmas; all these hurricanes and derechoes and weird weather patterns make getting coffee difficult with the power out and, as we're driving to/from Florida, our own coffee is better than the places' we stay; we can get on the road and have our coffee too (bottled water).

So, today's tasks are to figure out what research/family papers I'm taking, plan all that and do filing of all the stuff in my box here that I'm not taking and don't need as I continue to work the next couple weeks before we go and then when we get to Florida, before going to the Caribbean. Getting organized with what I needed to do before leaving on the 24th has made me feel so much better, I figure I'll do that for my research/paper work too.

I'm almost out of my asthma rescue inhaler; I see my doctor on Friday but I'm rationing how often I can use my inhaler and that is kind of dumb so I called the doctor's office this morning and asked could I get my prescriptions sent to the pharmacy today instead of in two days. I'm waiting to hear back from them so I can exhale, so-to-speak :-) I suspect the cold I caught back Thanksgiving put my usage up more and I know the last week or two, this weird weather is not helping; it's supposed to be near 60 here this weekend (but heavy frost each morning as we wake up).

Planning is also a good BRAIN exercise. Sounds like you're steadily making progress...and it would be SO worth a carribean trip!

How exciting for you! I can hear how excited you are from your posts. The best way to reach your goals is to break it down in little pieces. We learned that about weight loss with SP but you are using that in another area of your life and it works there too. Keep up with your daily lists and you will go feeling fully prepared.
