I'm that kind of person who falls asleep the minute my head hits the pillow,
But last night I realized how much something has been on my mind.
I could not get comfortable no matter which way I turned
and it was because I was tense.
I felt it in my neck and shoulders...
so I lay on my back and did those relaxation exercises I've done in exercise classes. I started from my head to my toes, and found that everything was tense.

Then I asked myself ...WHY

Obviously, things I thought I had put behind me are still there.
There are important issues I need to take care of and
I guess I watched something that triggered memories from the past.



I thought I had the stress under control but
my body gave me a sign that it is feeling anxious.
I think that is where some of my food cravings are coming from.
Luckily ... the healthy eating and being more aware keeps me from going into
a binge craze, but unless I take care of what's eating me,
it will continue to tie me up in knots.



Which brings me back to one of my weaknesses....procrastination.
So ... today we get moving on solutions

    Well, I am not a procrastinator but I do shy away from things I find unpleasant. Which could be a problem if "it" needs to be addressed.

I have however, had insomnia since I was 19yo and it has gotten worst. It is catching up to me I know. I too sleep tense and tossing and turning. But again I have always had insomnia so I NEVER experienced my head hitting the pillow then instant sleep. I am sorry to hear this is now happening to you. Take care of yourself my friend.

    Oh dear i've been having some issues myself. I don't know why life can be going along wonderful and the bam it knocks you back two steps. But we got this. Deep breathe and relax. We are going to do this it just might take a moment or two. But that way we do it right.

    I'm feeling stressed, too. I just keep reminding myself that no matter what I stuff down my throat, it's not going to fix my feelings. So far, no binges. Keep hanging in there!

    You know Sheryl, I had a lot of demons in my closet back in 2007 that were preventing me from moving on too. I had to seek a psychiatrist and a therapist to get through them and found out I have PTSD, Major Depression and Social Anxiety with suicidal tendencies. It took some time, but that is all behind me now. You can do this!

    That's when I can feel the stress, at night when I lay down. I can feel how tense all my muscles are. Relaxation exercises help, so does rigourous exercise. Of course late at night that's the last thing you would do. Good luck on working through it. At least you know it's there and can do something about it.
I liked the saying about complaining. Something I need to work on.

    good for you for tackling whatever the issues are. Unfortunately, things have a way of creeping in time and time again until we deal with them. UGH BUT you're dealing with the issues so there's hope to solve them or deal with them!

    It is all too easy to avoid dealing with problems..and then you find yourself tense and anxious. Great job of pushing us to act instead of procrastinate or avoid.

I hope you are feeling better today. Also that is great that you did not turn to food. Way to go. emoticon
