It has always been a strong desire of mine to be a tall, lean sassy chic. Unfortunately, genetics worked against me and I turned out to be more like an oompa loompa. The closest I can get to being tall and lean is a REALLY good pair of Spanx and high heel shoes. Today I momentarily lost my mind and attempted to be the me I want to be. I went for the tall, lean sassy look (minus the Spanx). I slipped my high heels on and headed to school. I was feeling kind of sassy the first hour of the day, but then reality set in and my feet started barking, "What the heck are you thinking crazy girl!" You see, teaching first graders is pretty much like putting on a live rock concert EVERY DAY! You have to be entertaining, enlightening and full of as much energy as the 6 year olds...no time for slacking off! By lunch time I was walking like a crippled person. I finally wised up and shed those God awful shoes and put on a pair of flats. I figured if I wanted to go workout this afternoon, I better put my old lady shoes on . That way when I climb up on the treadmill, I won't look like an 80 year old lady with BAD arthritis.
Thankfully by this evening, I could step on the treadmill looking less arthritic and more epileptic. You see if you haven't read some of my earliest blogs you may not know that I love to walk to Lady Gaga and other hip hop music when I work out. When the song "Dynamite" came on tonight I really wanted to "Put my hands in the air", but I knew people would look at me strangely. When "Boom-Boom-Pow" came on my hips and butt were just a jiggling' right along with the music. (Seriously, if you had no idea what song I was listening to and you were only looking at my hiney-bo, fanny-boo, you could have figured out right away the song that was playing.) When "Telephone" started playing my pony tail was rocking' to the beat! I was feeling pretty good...until...I got off and headed home. When I got out of my car I once again resembled an 80 year old lady with BAD arthritis...Oh well, nothin' a little soak in the tub can't fix.
