Well, it was going to be a rest day, but...

Tuesday, January 08, 2013

The dog wanted to walk today. That's my excuse and I am sticking to it! Anyways... Cooper and I walked 11.7 miles today. They weren't the fastest miles ever as the sidewalks are still quite icy. I also did 145 jumping jacks, the challenge video and a little lower body ST.

I will do Day 3 of the 5k running training program tomorrow at the gym, and upper body and core ST. I had the treadmill set at a pretty brisk pace on Monday, so I am hoping to match that. I don't think I will bump up the speed, as I didn't take a rest day today. I WILL be taking two rest days this weekend. I don't want to burn out this early in the year. lol!

I am a little behind in my mileage compared to last month, but I will probably catch up to where I was pretty quickly if I can keep up this pace. We are going into a January thaw, so the sidewalks should clear fairly quickly, which means I can do a few runs outdoors in the next week. I find running on the treadmill to be easier, so it will challenge me a little to run outside.

My dad bought me a couple of heavy duty cast iron pans today. He also bought me a beautiful cookbook and some dog treats (the treats are for Cooper, not me). That was so sweet of him! I also got a couple new pairs of workout pants with the last of my Christmas gift cards. Cooper was happy enough in his crate while dad and I ran errands. I know he doesn't mind going in his crate. He goes right in when I tell him to, but I still feel like I am locking him in a jail cell when I latch the door behind him. He has no problem. The only problem is the one I create in my head! That is true of a lot of things, now that I think about it...

Like I have said before, you are a walking and working out maniac! Cooper helps a lot, obviously, so he deserves those treats! Spark ON!

Great job on the miles woman. And I wouldn't stress too much about the crate. Most dogs actually prefer being secured in their crates than in the big open. It's comforting. Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday.

I like my cast iron pots. I have a dutch oven and a fry pan. Plus a smaller dutch oven too. I use them off and on, depending on my mood. Have fun cooking with them.

I understand Cooper wanting to walk, but how do you explain 145 jumping jacks on a rest day. You crack me up. You have no rest in your bones.

Terrific job! Hope the sidewalks thaw for you soon. Walking outdoors always beats having to do it inside. And it is a lot more fun if you aren't worried about falling!

You are doing absolutely wonderful! I know you will make up your mileage in no time.

Think of the crate as your dog's "room". Just like any teen is comfy in their room with the door closed, so are most dogs!
