Breaking it down

First of all, thank you to everyone who commented on my last blog about the mileage goals. It is very ambitious, but I am motivated to "get er done"!!

Secondly, thank you to Bobby (BOBBYD31), who challenged me to find another 13 miles somewhere, so I can do 2013 miles in the year 2013. I think that is awesome, and will be so cool when I achieve it!

So, now I need to break my goals down.... so I can see how to achieve them, and where I am in the process.


513 miles this year
42.75 miles each month
9.865 miles each week

I know that this is do-able. I just need to be consistent, and get in my three weekly runs of 3-4 miles each. Knowing that I don't have much wiggle room, is really motivating me right now. I know that there will be days that I will have to miss (for one reason or another), so I need to get in as many of them as possible when I can. This means "no excuses"!!

I also saw a quote on FaceBook, that really motivates me:
"Someday I will not be able to run. Today is not that day."
I have had those "somedays" due to injury, and I appreciate all of the days that I can get out there, even the days that don't feel good.


1500 miles in 2013
125 miles per month
28.85 miles per week

This goal is really going to challenge me, and I must say that I have already felt daunted by this goal.

However, I have been motivated as well. And that is a good thing. Motivated to add an extra fifteen minutes on tonight (to the hour I had planned). Motivated to make sure I am hydrating and eating properly, and getting enough rest.

These two goals together, one I think will be easily achieved, and one that I think will push me hard, are going to have me in the best shape by the end of 2013!


My tally to date:
Running: 15.42 miles out of 513 (four runs to date) or 0.03% complete
Biking: 32.2 miles out of 1,500 (three rides to date) or 0.0215% complete
One total rest day.
