It is time for a change.

It is the start of a new year and a new semester- and for me a new beginning in my weight loss saga! I was reading the message boards today and one SP user (don't remember who!) said to think of the journey as a love affair. See it as a way to try new things, experience different foods and places and reach heights you've never dreamed of. Like a love affair, you won't always be "in the mood" but like love, commitment is the most important thing! Love that new way of thinking about it. I definitely want to see things that way.
I stepped onto the scale this morning for the first time in 4 months. I knew it was going to be bad but it seems that I've gained an additional 10 lbs over break (and 20 lbs since the beginning of Fall semester.) Making me about 80 lbs over where I want to be. I am 5'2 so that is a pretty big deal... but to be honest with you- it is hard for me to think about. For one thing, I don't feel like I AM THAT BIG. I love my body and have great self-esteem! I have an awesome boyfriend who tells me I am beautiful every day. I have great friends! I am active (well- mostly.)
My challenges are:
1) fast food!!
2) soft drinks
3) not eating "real" food
4) too tired/lethargic to exercise at times
5) my depression can make it really difficult at times.

I am taking this one step at a time and tackling fast food and my lack of "real food" first. My boyfriend and I are planning an awesome spring break to St. Augustine in March... so I am literally saving every penny to go. Luckily, that leaves me NO money to go get fast food. I gave up fast food for 2 years when I was 16-18 and I felt awesome- I would love to go back to that. After the first few weeks, it wasn't that hard so for right now I am pushing through it.

Right now I am doing 2 different health programs and 1 fitness program.

The 4 Day Win is an awesome book that has a really great program!! If you have never heard of it is based off the principle that the first 4 days of any habit is make it break it time. Basically, you set a "ridiculously easy goal" and then when you meet it every day you get a small daily reward. At the end of the 4 days you get a slightly larger 4 day reward.
For the first 4 day win you make up your own. I decided that my daily goal would be to track my food everyday (measurable, achievable.) My daily reward is to watch 1 episode of one of my favorite shows (at the moment- Girls, Community, Arrested Development, and Game of Thrones.) My larger 4 day goal is to break out my brand new blender and make an awesome smoothie in celebration! I am on day 2 of 4 days. So far, so good!

I am also doing the Spark People Stress Buster Challenge. This week's challenge is to create a stress journal in your blog. So here we go- I have had a very stressful week! I am in the first week of my a new semester, the first week of a new work program at Enterprise, and I am also moving... My roommate and I have not been getting along so I am very excited to be leaving the toxic situation I am in- but at the same time my plate is overflowing!
I plan on tackling this by being extremely time efficient. I am going to keep tackling this challenge in my blog so that I can look back and see what changes I can make.
My new favorite quote? Too blessed to be stressed emoticon
