What counts as exercise? Here I go again.....

Tuesday, January 08, 2013

But unlike the song , not on my own. Started on the spark again last week and already have lost 1+1/2 pounds! Yay! Using a smaller plate at mealtimes, have switched from biscuit at break time (if of course a break actually happens!) to fruit and taking more frequent walks. Now do you think that it is valid to include walking to and from railway station at either end of commute to daily exercise total?. I have a total of 20 mins walking at either end with a 6 minute train journey in the middle. I walk for 20 mins after work with my dogs also, so is calling it 60 mins a day fair? Any comments ?

I add all that to mine. also I discovered recentlly if you search for cleaning in the exercise tracker, that comes up. I only include really heavy cleaning, as in scrubbing out cupboards, cleaning floors etc, but since I do this for hours at a time when I get around to it, it all counts

I add all of that, because you could take the bus, or car to the station. Lots do! You needn't have had a dog to walk either. Count it, but take the calories burnt total with a pinch of salt. I think its greatly exaggerated.

I'd count it if you treat it as exercise - ie, put your trainers on and march it out. Every little helps!

I must do vast amounts of exercise at work! The amount of walking about and getting up and do from under desks must burn loads of calories!

I think anything that is outside of the "normal" routine counts - taking the stairs instead of the elevator, parking at the far end of the parking lot, etc. Just be sure to stay honest - every minute counts, but if it's only 2min, only count 2min! You can fib to the trackers all you want, but in the end your body will always keep you honest :0)

Sounds like all of the things that you listed fit the bill nicely! Walking the dogs (a favorite of mine, too!) walking to and from the railway - those are great changes! They totally count! Keep up the great work!
