one of my goals for 2013 (i don't like to call them resolutions) was to practice better self control when it comes to food. today i did pretty well with that.
i ended up going to the Chinese restaurant in the cafeteria for lunch today. y'all know how i am about Chinese food. my "usual" is orange chicken and fried rice, and they usually pile way too much food in the styrofoam container, which i'm then compelled to eat all of because it's in front of me and dang it i paid for it. today, i got sweet and sour chicken (really chicken tempura bites with sauce on the side) and steamed rice.
when i sat down in the student lounge, i consciously made a decision to only eat half of the food. and i stuck to that without complaining or trying to reason my way out of it. so even though i spent like $6 on faux Chinese food, i'm stretching it for 2 meals.
it gets better. i just got home from a long day in class. usually one of the first things i do is to open the cabinet and snack on something. i talked myself out of it, because i'm not actually hungry and i'm going to someone's house for dinner later. to satisfy the sweet tooth, i drank water with crystal light lemonade.
i just had to tell someone. this isn't like me (in a good way).
