Welp. I'm back from my trip to NJ. We left Thursday in the late afternoon to catch our 5:15pm flight. Which meant I had a lot of free time in the morning. I woke up really early so I got in a circuit workout before 9am (!!) and then spent the day cleaning up my house, finishing up laundry, and of course packing. And relaxing a lot because that really did not fill up almost an entire day. Our flight left late, which was super annoying, but other than that it was uneventful. We landed in NJ at like 11:30pm and my dad picked us up. Friday we spent the day driving around NJ. I showed J some of the places that I really like, and we drove to the shore to see some of the destruction. The boardwalk in Seaside Heights is gone and the rollercoaster is still in the ocean :( We went out to dinner with my parents and brother that night, and then spent the rest of the night playing Apples to Apples with my parents, which was really funny. Saturday we spent the day in NYC. We saw The Mystery of Edwin Drood on Broadway. It was um...interesting and a bit confusing, but the last 15 minutes were really funny. We walked to see the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center, and then took the subway to see my old apartment in Brooklyn. We then hopped on the subway up to Tribeca to see my law school (which has apparently acquired a second building!) and then walked down to the World Trade Center (I guess now it's called the World Financial Center). Then we went to Chelsea to meet up with my friend Shawna and her fiance at Lasagna Ristorante, which clearly served many different lasagna options. I had the prosciutto lasagna and J had the artichoke lasagna. The food was pretty good - not amazing. I dont even want to know how many calories were in that. But my fitbit said we walked over 20,250 steps that day!! Which accounts for why I have blisters on the bottom of my feet. Mental note - boots with 3 inch heels are probably not appropriate for walking around NYC all day. *sigh* Sunday was a relaxing day - spent it at my parents house. My family was supposed to come over. Only my aunt and grandma showed up. My cousins and uncle stayed at home. I was really disappointed. I had especially wanted to see my cousin because she is going through some of the same troubles I went through during my freshman year of college. Oh well... Then Monday we packed, went out to lunch at Bahama Breeze (because apparently Cheeseburger in Paradise near my parents' house has closed!!) then headed to the airport to get back to Colorado. Our flight landed almost a half hour early which was nice. I brought Buffy back, and so far she seems to be behaving. I normally make her sleep in the living room in her crate, but I let her sleep on my bed last night and she behaved all night (when I tried this before she wouldnt sit still, and definitely wouldnt sleep). She was also really well-behaved while I was getting ready for work this morning. I felt really bad crating her when I left for work. I am going to see how she does this week being back in our house, and then consider leaving her out of her crate during the day. My mom said she didnt have any accidents in the house the entire 3 months she was with them...so we'll see. It would be great if she is finally housebroken completely. I think I am going to get her a big fluffy bed to put in my bedroom and another one for the living room, if I determine she can be ok out of her crate during the day. I just worry because I am sometimes gone 8-10 hours during the day for work, especially if I go to the gym after work, which I normally do.

I am very excited that I got my Christmas presents from my family while I was home. My brother bought me a complete set of industry standard cookware (pots & pans - he's a chef). I am so excited! I cook so much more now so more pots and pans is a huge plus, and these are stainless steel! My mom also bought me that clarisonic facial scrub brush. I had been really wanting it but couldnt justify the price. I didnt even ask her for it, but I am so excited to try it out! I also got a few other things like more pajamas which is great because it gets cold out here, some gift cards, and other little trinkets. My mom has to mail me most of my presents though because I couldnt fit them all in my suitcase.

I didnt get in any workouts while I was in NJ, but I am ok with that. I had planned to run on Sunday, but the blisters on my feet from walking around NYC on Saturday were too awful. They are better now, so I plan on getting in a run this afternoon after work at the gym before heading to the grocery store. I also put together a full body circuit workout to do. I will probably do that when I get home from grocery shopping tonight, while my food cooks. I am very much into full body circuit workouts that I can do at home - they generally take just under 30 minutes and burn between 250-300 calories! I also think that perhaps this weekend I will try out jazzercise finally - I bought a living social voucher back in December for 2 months.

I think I am going to start half-marathon training. I feel hesitant to put it out there, but I really want to do it - I really have to work on pushing myself to get in all of my planned workouts so that I dont get injured. Follow-through was definitely something I fell short on in 2012, so it will take a lot to keep me focused. I am looking at a half marathon at the end of April, so I tentatively plan to start training beginning the week of 20 January, which should be interesting because that weekend (25-27 January) J and I are going away for a ski weekend, and I am going to try skiing for the first time! *yikes*

Guess I'll get back to work. I will probably post a more detailed post about my weekend over at Fitness and Cupcakes later tonight with pictures. If I do, I'll let you all know.

    Glad you had a good trip home! I'm about to start training for a HM on April 14 - one of these days I'm going start blogging on her more so we could be accountability buddies if you want!

Watch out when you go skiing - it's so much fun but you will be SORE the next day! I skied a ton when I was younger, but now I only get to go a couple times a year and I'm amazed at the muscles it wakes up!

    You can do this! I think that doing those weekday runs is really important and if I have to walk some or all of it, at least I got in my miles! If I am tired after work I tell myself I can just walk if I get in those miles! I usually run anyway once I have my conditioning where it needs to be.

    Sounds like a great trip...except for the blisters.
A HM sounds like a good goal to work toward...just be careful on the slopes
