My thoughts on the new season of The Biggest Loser

Tuesday, January 08, 2013

I am a viewer of The Biggest Loser for the past few seasons.. I would definitely not call myself a fan. I watch the show mostly for the challenges and for the last ten minutes when they show the eliminated person at home. This season, I am enjoying seeing the addition of kids...especially with how they are being treated so kindly...I appreciate how they are NOT being weighed and cannot be eliminated...It is all about them making healthy choices...not extreme ones! emoticon

I actually enjoy the show more without Jillian. I just can't stand the way she demoralizes people. I am all for knowing when to give the tough love, but she just takes it too far--just too rude and mean for my taste. Having said all that, I love seeing the transformations in some of the people.

Me too - I love that they now have kids on the show, and their rules are kid-friendly. Not really liking all the excessive negative crap in the gym by Jillian. Seems like some people get unhealthy because of a lack of confidence, and her screaming at them can't be helping their confidence. Yes, when they realize they can do what they thought they couldn't - that builds their confidence. But, the excessive "just leave" doesn't help!

I enjoy watching the beginning and trying to visualize their transformation. What are they going to do with the white team? The two remaining contestants on that Team are going to self-destruct.

I agree that the kids is a nice addition to the show and I like how they are being treated. Childhood obesity is a big problem and if this helps even a few other kids it is a success. Maybe it will also help some parents pay more attention to helping their kids in a healthy way.

I like it too. I think these kids could be HUGE motivators for other kids, not to mention build their own self esteem, get healthier, and be educated on health.

I don't like children being on the show in any way shape or form. I fear that they could be set up for teasing and other abuse from their peers. I fear that they could set themselves up for a lifetime of disorganized eating. I want to see it since Jillian is back and she's small like me.

I definitely call myself a fan. It's decent reality tv, but I love the transformations the most! Following their stories is inspiring. I think adding the kids is good and I look forward to seeing their journey too.

The show is remarkable in that they are able to show week to week transformations but sometimes some of the trainers take it 1 step too far in the mental breakdown which I know is important to breakthroughs. I am glad to see the kids are being treated with encouragement and praise and not having this method used. They are pretty brave to put themselves on the show and I find myself very invested in their emotional well-being. I wish them much successs.
