I love that little ditty!

Yesterday and today I had fewer cravings. And last evening, I did not have to stuff my face.

I am focusing on veggies. But even through the weeks and weeks of cravings, I was focusing on veggies. So why am I now not craving stuff?

I am 65 so the old PMS time shouldn't be the reason.

Life is so simple when I am not craving food. emoticon But alsas that is not my usual state.

I sure wish I knew the secret!! Chris

ALL the media is not trying to tell us to eat rich desserts and showing liquid chocolate flowing across magazine covers. January is the traditional dieting month and the focus is on weight loss. If your missing your cravings be patient its almost Valentines Day emoticon

Finding out what causes the cravings may help control them and maybe even control them so you have them less often.

I don't worry about which came first. I include them both in my diet. In fact, I had both a half breast of chicken with some veggies for dinner and yesterday I had a hard boiled egg for lunch. Unfortunately, even at 66, I still also crave lots of junk food! - more power to those who are able to resist them!

There are probably a lot of reasons for changes in cravings and it will take a lot of paying attention to yourself and your habits without fail then tracking and noting everything to find what it is.

PS: The egg came first. Some animal laid an egg that had mutated DNA which became the chicken. It all comes down to DNA. emoticon

I CAN'T EXPLAIN IT EITHER BUT THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME. I HAVE BEEN ON EVERY DIET KNOWN TO MAN. BUT IT WASN'T UNTIL I TURNED 64 THAT I GOT REALLY SERIOUS AND NOTHING HAPPENED TO MAKE ME CHANGE MY THINKING. I JUST DID. ONE DAY I WANTED PIZZA AND HOT WINGS AND NOW, THE THOUGHT OF THEM NAUSEATES ME. WEIRD THAT! I JUST DON'T WANT THE JUNK ANY MORE. IT STILL SMELLS GOOD, BUT NOW I NOTICE THE BACKGROUND SMELL OF GREASE THAT I NEVER NOTICED BEFORE. THEY SAY WE EAT LESS AS WE GET OLDER - PROBABLY BECAUSE WE MOVE LESS. MY MIL EATS LIKE A BIRD BUT USED TO BE ABLE TO PACK AWAY A WHOLE BUCKET OF KFC BY HERSELF. NOW SHE EATS ABOUT 800 CALORIES A DAY AT THE MOST. SHE JUST ISN'T HUNGRY. BOY! I SURE HOPE THAT HAPPENS TO ME!

I think it has to do with our hormones and our glands, like thyroid, thymus, adrenal, and pituatary and how much processed foods we eat. Some processed foods are like monsters living on the inside of us making us crave all the no good processed foods that do not have any nutritional value at all. It also has to do with estrogen levels and progesterone levels. Estrogen dominance creates fat. The right amount of progesterone at the right times helps to burn fat and lessen estrogen levels. It really is a complex situation of why we get cravings for certain foods. You have to research what is going on in your body for your age.

You crave because carbs create them. People will cite sugar, and while that's certainly true, carbs are essentially complex sugars. Wheat and many grains, also being carbs, will contribute. Fats, healthy saturated fats (yes, I know the conventional "wisdom") satiate, and will kick those cravings to the curb.

Good luck in finding your balance. You can do it!

So glad your cravings are under control. I don't know why we sometimes crave things, but I know it happens to me. I just say my body is needing some nutrient that I'm not giving it and try to find out what that is. Sometimes I'm successful and sometimes not. Good luck on your weight loss journey! Take care, Chris.

It is winter...less sun makes us want some comfort foods..if you can go sit in the sun somewhere. I go through this every winter and call it "bear syndrome" as I feel it coming on as the days shorten just like a bear getting ready for hibernation..another thing that helps is get some sugar free mint gum like eclipse and chew it when the cravings hit. and I try to keep my hands and mind busier like stitching more or reading or doing cross words. Hope you get better and know you will as the days lengthen.
