I haven't done the resolutions thing for several years and I like it that way. I do see a lot of benefit in setting some long-term goals though. For me, it's like a compass to keep me going in the right direction...not a measure of my worth if I do everything on the list perfectly or not.
Several friends are doing lists of 52 things they want to do in the next 52 weeks. I can't really think of that many things, so I am just going to share some things I want to do for me during 2013.
First - i want to give myself 10,000 minutes of fitness this year. I think most of it will be in the pool, but I also will spend a good amount of time walking. I have also decided to try some Pilates classes at the gym - I hear that will be great for my core! I can also see some time spent in the circuit training section of the gym as my upper arms lack definition and summer is coming! It's kinda funny - I didn't let lack of muscle definition in my arms bother me before...hmmmmm!
Anyway, it figures out to about 27 minutes per day and THAT is very doable. My ideal week is four 45 minute pool sessions and three 30 minute treadmill sessions per week. That totals 270 per week or 14,000+ for the year without any races or the Koman 3 day that I am doing in November. I have a couple of eye surgeries coming up later this month and that will slow me down for about 3 weeks. And, you know - life just happens sometimes! So, 10,000 fitness gift minutes it is!
