emoticon I am os very upset and angry. I don't know what to do and feel like my hands are tied and that I am somehow to blame even though I know I am not.
A good friend, a Spark Person, who is just a wonderful person has had her computer hacked twice in the last couple of days. Now she is not going to be on her computer at all. Her computer is not working. Her facebook and hotmail were hacked. It has been horrible. This woman is on SP 2-3-4 times a day. She lives for it and the support and interaction. Now because of a horrible, vindictive young woman she is not going to be on SP for awhile and no facebook or hotmail.
She keeps in touch with family and friends with facebook and needs her hotmail. She needs this spot the most. I am so angry. I could spit. I don't know what to do. It is upsetting.

I am sorry to be going on and on here, but I just got into school early to do some homework and heard this news on the way in. I fumed all the way down here. I drive her son to school.

Again, I am sorry to be ranting but I am mad, angry, upset....

Thank you to anyone who reads this and understands. Have a good day.

Thanks for being such a kind and supportive friend. That is a great support too! Praying all involved will be able to see God work through the situation and bring good from it.
Blessings to you all!

What a world we live in! Even more than the inconvenience is the thought of someone directing their anger by making life miserable for another individual, just because person #1 "has the power, the inclination, and the opportunity" to do it.

I agree with other SparkPeople members here, that, just because there might be an opportunity to steal from an individual or a company, most of us choose not to do so because of an inner compass to do right.

I trust that the SparkPeople member who was hacked is well on the way to having restored service ASAP.

I hope that your friend can quickly get her computer fixed and running again, so that she can take advantage of all the SP support by good friends like you!

I really hope her computer can get fixed. I know I depend on SP for each day.
Maybe she can get to a CAP site or local library.
It is okay to be angry. Sometimes it relieves the anger to vent.
Hope everything works out for both of you. emoticon

    Some thoughts:

If you have a local library with public computers, your friend can use that to her heart's content.

A lot of people choose the REMEMBER ME option at login to various accounts - this is ALWAYS a mistake. I understand the many passwords are dif to remember but that is one more layer of security.

Also, all passwords should have NO connection to the individual or anyone the individual knows - the more off the wall, the better.

Sounds like you have contact with this person beyond Sparkpeople which I think is so wonderful! Maybe you can be her "LIVE" spark buddy until all this works out. I'm sorry your friend has gone through this. I'll never understand why people feel the need to tamper with other people's social media or email accounts (quite frankly, I'm not that exciting a person nor do I have resources that should make it worth someone's time and trouble to be hacked) but I know it happens very often. It seems like at least once or twice a month I'll get a message from someone saying "If you see something on my facebook that is really inappropriate or if you get an email from me that seems out of character, please know that I DID NOT send it. I've been hacked!"
I'm sure your friend will do it, but remind her to change all her passwords when she gets her computer back. She might want to make a habit of changing them every 60 days or so just to be safe.

Unfortunately that is one of the down sides to social media. We are growing new generations that don't have the social - people - skills of the past, caring and nurturing of others, conscientious and considerate, etc. The old adage of "never saying anything about someone you won't say to their face" is a thing of the past. Since we can write it we don't have to own it. I still hand write letters and notes because I remember as a child how good it made me feel to get something in the mail. I'm trying to help my young grandchildren see that some things are not best forgotten.
