I have put a lot of time and thought into my goals (for 2013... and beyond) and realised many things.... including that my goals have to support (implement) my values and priorities, that clear goals make the pathway to success clear, and that I have three main areas of importance in my life, but over two pages of steps to ensure I reach them!
I won't bore you with all the details (but have written them in my journal, and printed them for a copy next to my computer/diary) but here are the key areas for me :
Self : By the end of 2013, have established and maintained a healthy, focused and fruitful lifestyle.
- Areas for actions : Self-improvement and Health (sub-headings : Organisation,
Development, Health and Fitness)
Projects and Activities (sub-headings : Projects, Crafts, Travel,
Others : By the end of 2013, have established and maintained strong, meaningful relationships with family and friends
- Areas for actions : Family (sub-headings : none)
Friends (sub-headings : none)
The world : By the end of 2013, have established and maintained a meaningful lifestyle of giving that triggers others to adopt and spread the same positive lifestyle.
- Areas for actions : Improve the World (sub-headings : Volunteering, Pay It Forward,
A Little Better)
Although these might seem .... what's an appropriate word? .... "etherial"? "gaseous?" I have very clearly defined SMART sub-goals to make sure I am on track. Some examples are :
"Home : Repair one broken item or perform one maintenance task - one per week"
"Health : Log food, exercise on SP - daily; weights, measurements on SP - weekly"
" Projects : Complete one major project (from choice of 6 - one per school term"
" Volunteering : Work at Riding School for Disabled - one morning per week"
"A Little Better : Improve everywhere you go by at least one thing (eg litter)".
Now I am going to work on my daily, weekly and monthly schedules so that I can see how I can meet all of my goals (and sub-goals/tasks).
2013? Bring on an awesome year!!!
