What My FitBit Says About Me

I splurged on myself and received a FitBit One right before Christmas. Cute little gadget, but I wasn't as impressed as I thought I'd be. Didn't wear it for a week because I've been traveling and also laying around with a sinus infection. I had decided to send it back. I can get lots of apps on my new phone that will do almost all the same things. But, I have to start whatever app I want to use, whereas the FitBit records automatically.

I guess I have to face the truth that FitBit tells me that I am not very active. Today is the first time my activity score has been over 50%. I was not impressed that it said I was very active for 12 minutes when I had done 45 minutes of an Insanity workout. huh? Another revealing fact comes from my sleep record - only last night I was awakened 23 times. Besides getting well, I don't really know how to improve my sleeping quality.

I consider myself a busy person, but so much of that work is done in a seated position - on the computer, at the sewing machine, or beneath a quilting hoop. I am planning to approach my chores the same way LuckyDogFarm does - like it is a job, but I've got to get well first. I'm still not sure that will amp up my activity level enough. This is a work in progress.

I wanted a FitBit for the extra motivation to move more - it has done that without a doubt.

So how are you liking the FitBit now? I wanted one for my birthday, but Harry got me a bike rack and tow bar for my car instead -- something I didn't know that I needed but am so grateful for now with my triathlons coming up.

I read something yesterday that said the the worst part about watching TV is sitting down. They actually recommended standing to watch, as it burns more calories. I don't think you can stand to sew, but is there some way to elevate your hoop frame so that you could stand while quilting? I'm contemplating getting one of those Bosu ball chairs - at least that makes you pull in your core while sitting. I sit at my job all day, too. So I'm looking for ways to get more activity in my work day, too.

I think you got a good thing there.. something I have been looking for too.
I think with an Iphone which can do all what you looking for but it requires you to carry it at all times with a fitbit you attache it and go..

Before you know it your fitbit will be telling you what we all know.. is that you Rock..
Keep up the good work, hope your feeling better soon

Wow, so you're gonna keep the fit bit? I have been thinking about getting one myself. I have to say, since I started "working" around here, I am a heck of a lot more active. It is a great feeling knowing that I am accomplishing stuff. Yes, some of it is seated work, how can we avoid that. Maybe do that "nervous" jiggle with our legs while we are seated. Wonder what fit it would have to say about that?
I sure hope you get up and over that sickness soon. Have you tried a netti pot? Or a towel over your head with a sink full of steamy mentholated water?
